In the early morning, the solar panel becomes active to reduce heat before the temperature in the roof space starts to rise. As the day progresses, the fan's rotation rate increases in direct proportion to the solar intensity of the sun. Conversely, in winter, when the sun reaches a lower angle, the extraction rate of the vent declines but is still sufficient to remove any moist air in the roof space. SolaCool is simple to install. The solar panel is located seperately on a nearby tile or is screwed to the roof battens (in a metal roof application). WhirlyMate is a closable ceiling register which allows you to control the flow of heat from a room. During summer, the vent is easily opened to allow warm room air to be drawn into the attic space for removal by a roof ventilator. Then, in winter, the vent can be closed to prevent loss of home heating. WhirlyMate is very easy to install and simple to open and close. A feature is the ease of operation using a simple wand when installed in high ceilings. Its grille complements most decors and is made of attractive ABS. The Solution to Cathedral Ceiling Heat Buildup While modern home design, with large glass areas, low or cathedral ceilings and second storey additions can be architecturally pleasing, they also allow summer heat to enter and collect in the home. Air conditioning is an expensive and energy inefficent solution. The answer is to install a WhirlyMate in hot rooms, such as kitchens, bedrooms and living areas. Hot air is then released from the home and vented through an Edmonds turbine ventilator such as a Supavent, or the powerful, thermostat controlled, Maestro 12V or Maestro Solar. In winter, WhirlyMate is simply closed to prevent heat escape from the home.
